Sustainability with innovation and impact in one

Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

Commitments making a real-world difference

In 2015 the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The goal of these 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is to provide a versal blueprint for peace, prosperity, and sustainability for people and the planet, now and in the future.

They were adopted in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which sets out a shared vision for a better future. As part of our commitment, GDB Logistics are focusing on four SDGs. Collectively they’re ensuring we have the most impact possible.

Our decentralized approach leads to a 30–35% reduction in CO₂ emissions by shortening transport distances and reducing the number of kilometers driven through closer proximity to the end customer.

Greenhouse gas protocol

Setting targets, reaching our goals

The goal of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol is to provide a globally recognized standard for measuring, managing, and reporting greenhouse gas emissions in a consistent, transparent, and credible way. This is linked to SGD’s 7 and 13 to which GDB Logistics has committed itself.

Sustainability is integral to every aspect of our business strategy. As part of this, we’re committed to Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

Scope 1
Direct emissions

Our offices and warehouses are carbon neutral and create partly their own power.

Scope 2
Indirect emissions

Here we’re committed to buying as much electricity from green sources as possible.

Scope 3
Value chain emissions

We use maritime freight, barge and rail where possible. Our decentralised warehouse network reduces transport kilometres by approx. 25%.

There’s work to be done, but we’re committed to making a real difference.

Sustainability as standard

Sustainable supply chain commitments

Sustainability is central to how we run our business and every stage in our supply chain. Here are just a few commitments:

  • All our warehouses are carbon neutral, generate their own power and create minimal waste.
  • For all sites in The Netherlands we are ISO9001 and ISO14001 certified.
  • Through intermodal transport, we create the most efficient CO2 routes possible.
  • Our decentralized warehouse concept reduces CO2 emissions by 70% compared to centralized storage and distribution.
  • Customers can also choose HVO100 fuel saving 90% CO2 on regular diesel.
  • We partnered with ShipZero to show how much CO2 is used across our entire chain. This allows us to map and monitor CO2 emissions across every stage of our logistics operations – down to individual shipments. This partnership also enhances transparency for our customers as we provide detailed emissions reporting, so our clients can track and improve their own sustainability performance
