With many years of experience in logistics at various companies, Danny is certainly no newcomer to the field. “I started in logistics in ’95 and have held numerous roles. For the past 15 years I’ve been working as a logistics manager and operations manager at several companies. Through the grapevine I heard about the vacancy at De Boer Group. The position immediately appealed to me, of course. But I was also instantly interested in the company itself.”
A professional journey with great challenges
Danny continues: “De Boer Group is a family business, and that suits me very well. I like short communication lines and quick decision-making. On top of that, De Boer Group operates internationally, and I have the opportunity to continue growing. That also appeals to me. And not unimportant: the challenges here are fantastic. The application process was very professional with pleasant conversations and a targeted assessment. We were also immediately on the same wavelength. So my decision to join De Boer Group was made quickly.”
Professionalising further together with the team
“I am responsible for the logistics processes in Germany, France, De Rijp and Born,” Danny says enthusiastically. “But here in Born lies the biggest challenge. Understandably so, because this is the location with the most business. I started by analysing the processes. De Boer Group has grown incredibly fast in recent years. If we want to maintain that growth, it’s necessary to reorganise the processes. That’s why we restructured the teams, divided responsibilities more clearly and appointed additional team leaders. Now that the teams are in place, we want to continue improving the inbound processes. With all changes, I try to involve as many people as possible. That’s important to me. People must be able to contribute their ideas and have space for their own input — after all, they are the ones doing the work every day. And I’m on the floor as much as possible. You simply can’t run a logistics operation from behind a desk, in my opinion.”
Expanding across Europe
“For De Boer Group as a whole, we want to continue being that dynamically growing organisation and further strengthen our position in Europe. That’s something I work on every day with enthusiasm. In addition to my work in the Netherlands, I focus on the operational and organisational processes in Germany and France. In Germany the business is smaller and therefore very manageable. The biggest challenge there is expansion. Together with the Site Manager in Germany, I’m working on those plans. The processes in France resemble those in Born. Together with the Warehouse Manager there, I look at what we can further improve.”
Seeing opportunities means seizing opportunities
When asked what appeals to him most about De Boer Group, Danny answers immediately: “The friendliness, the openness, the freedom of movement, the dynamism, and the fact that people don’t think in boxes. Because even though De Boer Group is a large company, you can still truly feel the atmosphere of a family business. Everyone is equal here, even if one person has more responsibility than another. What I also really like is that you can tell everyone wants to move forward and continue professionalising. And it’s clear that great opportunities lie ahead. Those are opportunities we truly have to seize together.”
