Our history

85 years of delivering more

As a third generation family business, we’ve been delivering on our promises and keeping our customers’ cargo moving for decades. Today, our one-stop supply chain spans the globe and continues to build on the values created by our founder Jan De Boer.

Two trucks and a pub

1939
The grandfather of our owners, Jan De Boer, took over a transport company with two trucks and a pub, initially focusing on regional agricultural transport such as maize and livestock which were transported to the market.

Beer on the move

1960
Our company began transporting Amstel beer from the brewery in Amsterdam to district centres in Holland. From here the beer was delivered to local pubs.

Expanding services

1980
Our services expanded and we started delivering 80 sea containers a day, handling all customs, from Heineken in Zouterwoude to the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp. This gave us more visibility with other businesses in the ports, where we made strong new customer relationships. Back then container transport was considered pioneering.

The first Eco Combi (Longer and Heavier Vehicle)

2000
De Boer Transport was the first company to operate an LHV (Longer and Heavier Vehicle) on Dutch roads. Following lobbying efforts by Transport en Logistiek Nederland (TLN), a pilot program was launched in January 2000. Later, De Boer Transport deployed these LHVs for Heineken.

One-stop shop

2025
A very significant year. We restructured our business creating different departments and formulising our one-stop supply chain positioning. A rebranding was implemented. De Boer Transport became G(lobal) D(e) B(oer) Logistics — a name that clearly refers to the company’s family roots while also reflecting the fact that GDB has grown into an international logistics service provider. We also constructed a new head office and opened more warehouses in Born. Born 1 with 20.000 m2, Born 2 with 12.000 m2 and Born 3 with 30.000 m2. Next to this we opened the location Charles De Gaulle in France.
